Tears of Joy?

Today was my first grade son's last day of school. Every year my son's school is filled with parents who line the walkway and blow bubbles for the kids on the last day of school. I went and my younger son blew the bubbles. When I saw my son walk out of the building and come toward me, I could feel my eyes start to tear up. It surprised me. I don't usually get emotional like that. Maybe it wasn't tears of joy. Maybe it tears over the realization that school is really over.

Now the fun begins for the parents.

what a cute tradition with the bubbles; I had never heard of that one; I always cried first day of school and last day of school; there is lots of sentiment with starting fresh and then finally being glad the school year is over

enjoy the summer

That's a tough call. I shed a few tears when I watched the beautiful photo montage that my daughter's 2nd grade teacher made for all her students highlighting various events from the year. My daughter's teacher was great and I'm sad that she has to move on to someone unknown.

So sweet. My daughter is finishing Kindergarten in just a few days and I can't quite believe she'll be that old already and moving on to full days of school. It's true when people say they grow up so fast. That line used to drive me crazy, but I get it now.

I'm jealous. My mom didn't shed any tears at my graduation this year. Even if she were to shed tears of "oh-my-goodness-the-eldest-is-jobless-and-now-has-college-debt-the-family-is-so screwed" tears, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between those tears and tears of joy.

Sounds like a great start to summer vacation! I say put your kids to work on building you that lake front house.
