I Took the Plunge

I did it. I started my Christmas shopping. I wasn't planning on it. I went shopping for winter coats for my kids and Christmas decorations were everywhere. Christmas music was playing everywhere. The mall was packed. And Christmas sales were everywhere. For an entire hour, I believed it was December 24th.

So I took the plunge. I bought a few Christmas presents for my kids.

Then I came home and realized that I need to hide these presents for seven weeks. Seven!! This is not going to be easy.

I've picked up a few odds and ends, and I thought I had hidden one gift well enough. But no, my nosey 9-year-old found it. Sigh.

Might I suggest wrapping the gifts and placing them in a rubbermaid tote with a label that would not interest your kids like "old clothes". Certainly do not stash the gifts in a box that says "pencil erasers". ;)

Karen's comment made me laugh out loud! Good point. Yes - it is kind of crazy that the decorations are out already.

Aha! Another impulsive shopper! I'm not so alone in this world, after all!

Ah, those mall-induced illusions! They work like magic. What they need are present lockers at the mall so you don't have to bring the stuff home until the 24th.

The few times I've done early shopping, I've hidden the stuff away so well that I forget all about it - lol!

You are brave! I'll shop on-line this year.

Geez it's only 7 weeks until Christmas!!

Hiding things for SEVEN weeks won't be easy, Cookie. Do you have a neighbor who could keep them for you?? OR--a relative??? I'll bet those two boys will find whatever you hide in the house. They are SMART kids.

Good Luck...
Hugs,
Betsy

Yeah for getting ahead! I have had to resort to wrapping as I go to keep the kiddos out . . . though mine are still small enough that a tall shelf in the basement does the trick.

Oh, you're good. I keep thinking about it and all I want to do is have a long nap. I am no where near ready.

Gifts go in the attic here ... sometimes, other people's houses...but I do have to write things down or I forget about them! I do a lot of Christmas shopping at yard sales all year...it is tricky, but cheap!
LOL at Karen's comment! :)

Best of luck keeping presents hidden for seven weeks. I always felt fortunate if I could keep things hidden for seven days! But thanks for helping the economy.

See, this is why I can't go anywhere with anything Christmas. Seven weeks (wait, really, it's only seven weeks until Christmas?) is way too early to start this stuff. But I'm with Karen on the erasers label!

I was tempted to start last week, but I retrained myself. It was 2 days after Halloween and Christmas music was blaring out of the store's speakers. The only thing keeping me from purchasing any items...hiding them.

Oh, my, you ARE organized. The only time I ever had Christmas gifts on time was when we forgot to take down the tree -- for a whole year. My mother brought early Christmas gifts when she came for a visit from a continent away in the middle of the summer. Finding the Christmas tree still up, she put the gifts under them, and there they stayed until December 25. It was definitely an interesting year.

If you bought your kids clothes, I hope they don't outgrow them in seven weeks.

A couple of friends and I went on a trip from LA to SF. My best friend who lived in SF left her apt key hidden somewhere for me because she said my friends and I could stay at her place. I got to her place and let the dog out of the laundry room. Then I tried to get the dog to sniff out my Christmas present. The dog was useless.

Already! You are so good. You will be so glad you did in a few more weeks.

Any chance you can hide them at a neighbors? family members house?
