It Doesn't Snow in Seattle

When I moved to Seattle 3 years ago, I was told that "it doesn't snow in Seattle." We had a snowstorm in December and schools were closed for a week. I was told that only happens once every hundred years or so. So far this winter I wrote about snow here, here, and here.

A hundred years goes by quick! My son's school is closed today for snow.

wow--i wish it would snow in Denver--it's so dry here that when the wind blows we have dust storms.

I detest snow. But, we never get real snow. We get ice storms.

Ouch. I know people who moved to Chicago from Portland who were umm heavily snowed upon this winter who were happy winter was close to ending in Chicago last month. I warned them that February was full of snow. Yeah... not so much this year. We did get 2-3" of rain yesterday though. That translates to 20-30" of snow had it been just a touch colder.

Here's hoping school reopens soon!

now at least you know never to buy a house situated in a one hundred year floodplain-- a hundred years does just go by in a blink, doesn't it?
