This morning I woke up at 5:46 when my 5 year old came into my room and said, "Mom, I wet the bed." I can't think of a better way to start the day.
I helped him get changed and put new bedding on his bed and tucked him back in. Then I crawled back into bed and laid there till my alarm went off just before 7:00. Then I said to my husband, "I can't believe our 5 year old wet the bed. He hasn't done that in a long time." Mr. Cookie was surprised to hear me say that. Somehow he managed to sleep through everything.
At 7:30 I discovered that my 7 year old had been watching TV and still wasn't dressed for school. His punishment is no TV after school today. He says, "I don't care. I have chess club and cub scouts today so no time for TV anyway." He was right.
My kids were ready for school 7 minutes before it was time to leave. That was 7 minutes of fighting and whining.
On the way to the bus stop there were still a few chunks of ice on the street. The ice is a magnet for my kids. They immediately ran to it. And fell. With wet pants, my kids finally got on the school and I happily waved good-bye.
I returned home to the huge pile of laundry including wet sheets and blankets. There is an equally huge pile of dirty dishes. I started to clear off the mountain that is taking over the counter. I opened the cabinet under the sink to put a wrapper in the trash. I found a tissue stuck to the inside of the cabinet door. A used tissue. A nice wet and sticky tissue.
That's just the first two hours of my day...

Oh... woman... I know. I do. I've been there.
Oh Cookie - poor you! I hope you got to sit down and have some coffee after all that.
Ugg. I so dislike those types of days. I hope it gets better. I really do cuz dirty tissues stuck to doors is no fun at all :)
I hit something and my comment vaporized - well, I think it vaporized - lol!
eewwww @ the sticky tissue! But at least it was heading in the right direction. Why is that we have to deal with OPST (other people's sticky tissues)?
I would say you're off to great start on one of "those" days and I hope it ends up being a great afternoon for you! Gotta have some hope, right? :)
Minus the wet bed and snow, that sounds a lot like the first two hours of my day. I had to wrestle the 9yo into pants and find tights for the 6yo and make oatmeal and start laundry and bake muffins and and and and
Wait a minute...did you even have time for coffee!? My kids are a little younger, but we frequently have morning similar to that!
I hate those kinds of days! But then again, this made a great post! lol. I loved it because it's very true to life. Well written too! Thanks for the chuckle!
Did you step in dog puke? That's usually the signature experience of my crappy mornings.
I've been there... Hang on. The day is almost over...
The day can only get better, right?! I sure hope it did!
I have to laugh at your day ---or at least the first 2 hours... All I can say is "Been There--Done That"... Glad it's you and not me these days. As much as I miss my sons when they were little, I do NOT want to do it all again.
Hang in there... It will get BETTER.
Hugs,
Betsy
Used tissues need love too. LOL
Your calamity reminds me of getting to school on our own in upstate NY in the winter. Replete with ice skating slides to the bus stop. Fun then, but I wouldn't want to be a mom dealing with it. I bow to you, Cookie.
Forgive me for laughing at all this.
I too have dish mountains.
But no pee in the bed or used tissues stuck to the inside of my cabinet doors, well not that I know of. But I very well could. I'm almost afraid to look!
:)
Oooo that sounds like fun! Gotta hate it when they're too smart for their own good. *sigh*
Then again, you just reminded me that I have a load of wash I need to hang. Now. Hope it got better quickly for you!
It sounds like one of those mornings where I would have wanted to go back to bed...
