Yesterday my 6 year old lost a tooth at school. He was very excited to show me the tooth in his hand as he ran off the bus.
He went to bed last night and the tooth fairy came. She left $1 under his pillow.
This morning my son wasn't very excited about the money. He handed me the $1 bill and said, "Mom, is this fake?"
He hadn't seen such a crisp dollar bill before. Or maybe the economy is finally taking it's toll on the tooth fairy?

Oh no! The Toothfairy is a counterfeiter? Dang. I guess next you'll be telling me there's no such thing as Unicorns.
Ferst!! hoo-woo!!!!!
Oh, i needing proval of my kimmint, mebbe i not ferst.
and now i feels all imbarrassed.
Ahh, so fun to lose a tooth. And funny thing he said.
This made me smile. It's funny how a crisp clean bill does seem fake. In Canada we gave up our dollar bills and our two dollar bills for coins - annoying, really, as they get heavy in the wallet pretty quickly (if you can keep them around long enough to add up).
When my kids were little the tooth went in a jelly jar with water in it. The special child would look and look into the water at his special tooth. When he/she went to bed then the water was drained, the tooth thrown away, and spare change put in the glass. Then the water returned to the glass just as before. It was magic, almost like Christmas!
That's great. The tooth fairy has resorted to doling out counterfeit $1 bills.
yes honey, here is a shiny dime to replace it!
ha
Oh how funny....I'm sure you told him that the Tooth Fairy would NEVER give him fake money...
Times have changed... My kids only got 25 cents from the tooth fairy... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
LOL! I love that your little one is a skeptic :)
I'll be sure to give my daughter a nice crumpled bill when she loses her first tooth :D
What will he spend it on, I wonder? :)
Well, it was just a matter of time before the economy impacted the tooth fairy. It hasn't hit my parents yet who gave my daughter four dollars for her lost tooth! Ummm...are you kidding me??!!
The tooth fairy used to leave my daughter Susan B. Anthony dollar coins. After she received about three of them, she told my husband she wanted "real money" next time.
I dunno. You might wanna haul that Tooth Fairy in for questioning. Did you offer to just switch out one in your wallet for his? ;)
Thanks for stopping by. I read back, and love your style of writing about your kids. A little bit mommy and a little bit sassy;) AND I really like that you did not go on a long rant about the $15..shit happens, right.
Enjoy the little ones, mine are 31 and 26, it really does go by in a flash.
Can't trust anyone these days!
lol, The things kids say.
Haha. I love your boys!!
