I enrolled in a class at the local community college. I'm taking Japanese now. Today was the first day.
When I enrolled in this class I had to send over transcripts to make sure I met the prerequisites for the class. I felt really old digging up those artifacts. But somehow I managed to get accepted into the college and I found my way through the new computer system and enrolled in the class.
This morning I started to get a little nervous. I don't know my way around campus. Where do I park? Will I be able to find the classroom? What if the other kids don't like me? What if the school nurse from my kids' school tries call me during class (As if that would ever happen!)? Typical first day concerns. Nothing really to worry about. Then as I'm walking out the door to leave for my class I realize that maybe I have a real concern. I realize that I don't have a notebook or a pen. Ok, maybe I do have something to worry about.
I don't think I'm ready for this.

Koni chi wah! (bow)
That's all I know- Learned in from a commercial.
Good luck with class, sounds like fun-
There is no ready, there is only wing-it!
taking Japanese sounds ike it would fun, but it sounds like a difficult language, I'm sure you will do fine! Good luck!
Btw, what made you decide on Japanese?
Hahahaa...You're going to be FIne!! Hope all went well!!hughugs
I thought everyone knew my little secret... My husband is Japanese. I'll have to go back through some of myolder posts. This spring we went to Japan to visit his family. His parents don't speak much English (and his mom sometimes reads my blog!). My kids used to go to Japanese preschool and they speak more Japanese than I do. Now that we are no longer paying for preschool (although we are still paying for full time kindergarten, I know it's a WA thing, and both kids are in school, I have some time and a little bit of money to give Japanese class a try. It will be an adjustment to say the least. And now I'm thinking an explanation could have been a whole nother post!
That is so cool! Just yesterday, I overheard two ladies speaking Japanese in the supermarket. Such a beautiful language.
The worst thing about the first day of class is always parking!
That is so neat, Cookie! A real challenge, but you'll rise to it.
It's funny how we forget the obvious when we're nervous.
It's funny how we always get nervous about the silly things too. When I set up my equipment fora disco I always worry about if there will be a plug socket I can use, or whether I'll be able to park close enough to get all my gear into the place.
I'm sure there are more important things to worry about, like whether I have my music with me!
Japanese? I am impressed!!! You will love school. I went back to college as an adult and still have a bunch of friends from that time. They will love you.
LOL- i love that you forgot paper and a pen. HA! awesome! you could always tell the teacher you're advanced and you wanted ot learn japanese sign language??? :)
Hi Cookie, Now I know why you chose Japanese.. I had no idea your hubby was Japanese until you mentioned it above. That would be neat---learning to communicate with his family. Keep us posted as to how you do. It sounds like a hard language to me.
Hugs,
Betsy
You'll love it.
I am super impressed! Good for you for doing this - I am sure your mother-in-law will be delighted!
LOL! I hope all went well! :-)
you will do so good in school I know because If I can learn to type you should have no trouble... Buddythedoxie
Oh how cool! I hope you enjoy the class. Once you figure out the routine of going back to school again anyway :)
It's always a little overwhelming at first, but you'll do great!
